Having already gained some commercial traction from several early adopters, Sirigen was looking to identify someone to chair the company and help drive its growth, In order to sell into the large multinational pharmaceuticals companies it was targeting, it was essential that the new chairman was both an industry heavyweight who could open doors for the company, but also someone experienced of working with early stage companies.

Seraphim Lead Angel:
Drummond Paris joined the Sirigen board as Non-Executive Chairman and Seraphim's lead investor. Drummond had spent more than 25 years working for Novartis - one of the world's biggest life science companies and one of Sirigen's largest potential customers. He ran Novartis' UK business from 2001 to 2005 as CEO, prior to which he held the position of Global Head of Novartis' Transplantation and Immunology Unit, which has direct relevance to Sirigen's core target market of immunodiagnostics. Drummond is also the Chairman of Karus Therapeutics - another venture-backed biotech company.
